countdown to ownership

Disregard.

Just received the announcement that my company has been bought by a competitor and being parted out to some other shops.

All hopes and dreams temporarily abandoned

:hairraise:.....:eek:......:yikes:....:sad::sad::sad:..

Sorry to hear that...

But....

Your next installment of " As The Prop Turns" is gonna be a doozie...

Never make future plans when you do not control the future.

I'm rootin' for you. You never know what good thing is just around the corner.

I've owned my own business for almost 15 years. In 2008, I watched some "stable companies" disappear. After talking with the owners, well, only two things in life are certain...

I will say that I'm a big believer in making lemonade out of lemons. With your experience with logistics (shipping) and the economy slowly recovering, there are a lot of options out there. Network with clients and vendors and see what comes together...

Thanks, I think I will be fine and probably better. I took a 20k pay cut coming here so I could work from home while my kids were little. My youngest will be in 1st grade next year so it is time to get back to a full potential, kahki pants, 9 to 5, "please sir may I have another" gig anyway.

But the Bumper Blimp dream is on hold for sure.

So.... Does that mean I can steal your blimp idea?

I see great potential there.

Just need to get my kickstarted campaign going.

I prefer making Gin and Tonics if I have lemons...
:goofy:
Sorry, just had to :)

Yeah, you can have it.
Cut me a small check from the red bull advertising royalties from time to time.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear it, although I not gunna miss the so call "work location" pictures you have posted. ;)
If you have to make a career or company change you couldn't be doing it a better time. There is plenty of companies hiring, and with your out going personality I'm sure you wont be unemployed long.

Working from home... While the kids are little. Man, that's not only a recipe for getting no work done, but it's torture to boot! ;)

Don't get me wrong, kids are great, but you can only watch so many episodes of "Caillou" before going insane!

hahah
Nah, I setup things for them to do and we break for tickle fights and snacks.

And they always went to school from 9 to 1 so I only had them with me from 1 to 4 next year they will both be in school 9-3

When they were little little, Mrs 6PC worked nights and stayed home with them during the day. Once they got old enough to entertain each other I started working from home to cut the nanny costs.

Prior to kids, I could never imagine how much nannys cost. crazy.

That time spent with your kids is GOLDEN. The need for gameful employment aside, consider yourself a rich man.

And the update from my company today was between 4 and 15 months for the sale to close. Their mistake is my gain. I am the only one that can do my job and it is vessel operations so they need me to train and transition and do data conversions for the new owners.

Worst case scenario, I am one of the last to leave and I get 8 weeks severance
Best case scenario, I find a job and tell my current company I will contract for them as needed. I am happy either way.

Find a new job and contract the transition at a nice plane rate.

Job opportunity? :D

My countdown should resume shortly hopefully.
Interview tomorrow, one Friday, and potentially 2 others.
Should know something in a day or two on those.

Good luck, Pardner. If they award points for creativity and wit, you're a shoo-in. :)
