Maybe I just woke up to the concert sceen again after passing out for 30 years, but there are a bunch of cool old bands coming to a crap hole of an outdoor venue within a couple of miles of my house. I can drive the ATV there through a bunch of fields and road ditches!

Wide Spread Panic
Boston
Doobie Brothers

All within a few week of each other. I realize the original band members are probably dead, but the "reconstituted" bands put on a great show doing the somes as close to original as possible.

Saw ZZ Top a month ago, absolutely crazy fun! Last time I saw them it was 1970 in Chicago.

Gonna see the Eagles in Omaha in September again too! They are awesome!

Party time!!!! :goofy:

Anyone else go to old school concerts and party like rock stars? :cornut:

The secret to a good rock concert is wear ear plugs! ;)

Yea, the first Monday of Airventure each year. I didn't like Chicago last year. Who's on for 2014?

I'm seeing Billy Joel, Crosby Stills Nash, Heart, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy this summer. Love living in Chicago.

I saw Rush in Chicago a few years back and they are (were) holding pretty well.

Jerry's dead, get a life.

I'd rather have a lobotomy than listen to Don Henley.

Saw the doobie brothers at the gorge about 3 years, watching paint dry is slightly more entertaining. Saw Rush not that long ago....that was awesome. I go see Dylan every time he's within 3-4 hours drive. David Grisman was good. Saw Prince not long ago, he puts on a hood show. Whatever incarnation of the dead is touring, I go see though I won't travel as far as I used to. Saw ZZ top when they had the green laser women. That was enough for me. Best concert I ever seen was Van Morrison.

Steely Dan... 'coming this July in Phoenix....
My big concert re-entry shock.... PRICE. OMG, $100-$600 for tickets!

Absolutely. We're Wolf Trap members. (National Park amphitheater)

http://www.wolftrap.org/Learn_About_Wolf_Trap.aspx

We do 6 - 8 concerts a year. Picnic dinner and a couple of bottles of wine on the lawn. Beautiful evenings!

Over the past couple of years, we've seen:

Chicago
Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Hall and Oates
Barry Manilow
Frankie Valli
Huey Lewis
Pat Benetar
Sheryl Crow
Steve Miller
Peter, Paul, and Mary
Beach Boys
Sugar Ray

Etc.

Steely Dan in concert...there's something fundamentally wrong with that.

I always liked the eagles. I thought the lyrics were great and Glen FRY was my favorite of the bunch. Great harmony. I recently came across a video of Kathy grant singing the bartender song at the 50th anniversary for george jones. She is about 50 I think but just as good looking as ever. The memorial album for George of the beetles, great and the last tune, " I'll see you in my dreams " by.......... Can't remember his name but he's great both on vocal and ukulele. His name? Another!(Just remembered...)early eagles with Bernie Layton (?) on banjo doing " midnight special"! That dude can pick !

Nauga,
who thought '80's music was bad enough the first time through

Over the last few years saw Rush 2x, Springsteen, Goo Goo Dolls, B52, Go Gos, Robert Cray, BB King, Oasis, A7X, Van Halen, Slash, Beach Boys, Cheap Trick, Poison, Joan Osborne, Def Leppard, Doobie Brothers, Bon Jovi, Pat Benetar, Blondie, Kid Rock, and yes, Barry Manilow (not my idea)

Rush at the Gorge. We flew into Moses lake and took a car to the concert. Great Trip…. I did land in Couer de Alene and get married at the hitchin' post on the way there though :)

Glad you do.....compromises we have to make so they don't give you hassles flying on weekends. Good trade off I think.

You said it! Keep the peace. Wise move. (I lived in sun valley for a year, long ago. What a beautiful area! If I could have made a living there, never would have left. ) went to couer de lane ( spelling) also great.

My wife bought us tickets to see Van Morrison a few years ago. I was so excited about the show but was totally let down. For some strange reason he played the same song on the piano twice (about 20 minutes apart). Maybe the show would have been better if he didn't mandate that no beer be sold once his show started.

Wow...great venue. I bought the Blu-Ray DVD of that tour....great concert.

I've been to only two concerts. Saw Johnny Cash when I was 10. My kids used to love Sara Evans, and she grew up here, so I took them to see her and Brad Paisley at the state fair a few years ago. Money well spent.

I'd like to see Billy Joel and James Taylor. But other than them there's no one I'd spend more than $10 to see.

I am finally at the age where I have to do the ear plug thing.

Metallica / Lamb of God was the most recent concert I attended and I feel dumb wearing ear plugs but I have tinnitus and can't let it get any worse.

So not just ear plugs but custom ear plugs molded for me so they look like hearing aids.
I get the muffled version of concerts now. :(

Yeah, tinnitus is a rough one, and only gets worse with more exposure.

Lamb of God probably would have been cool but I can't say I'm a Metallica fan, those guys haven't written a good tune in about 20 years IMO.

Got tickets to see Pennywise at the end of the week and then Mastodon/Gojira at the end of the month in Oakland

Written? no.
But they can still play the hell out of the old stuff.
And for the most part they don't spend a lot of time on new material live.

They have done a good job of pretending St. Anger never happened LOL

I was in a metal band when I was younger and we couldn't afford rehearsal space. But you know what we could afford?

Freakin U-Haul storage space. Playing full blast in a metal box. We didn't realize the damage we were doing to ourselves at the time. Wish I had a do over on that one.

OUCH!

yeah I wear some attenuators when I rehearse but they tend to fly out of my ears when I'm playing live and move around a lot. When I'm playing a lot of gigs I'll go with foam but it just kills freq's, when I'm not playing a lot I'll go with naked ears and not stand so close to the cymbals.

Last big concert I saw was Tina Turner and she was fantastic! She's the same age as my mum!!

www.therockboat.com.

We went this year. Been "meaning to do it" for all 14 years it's been going on.

Had the time of our lives. 33 bands, non-stop concerts, sun, beach, drinks, more bands, get to mingle with them all over the boat, meet tons of people who are fans (you're not spending an hour or two next to someone at the concert, you'll see them again later during chow or grabbing a drink at the bar, or just walking down the hallway...), room is only a few flights of stairs away when you've had enough for the day...
