The other day at MCI a commercial jet got off the pavement when turning onto a taxiway. (737 I think)

Are there any repercussions toward the pilot? Or is this just a bad weather mis-hap?

Is the pilot automatically grounded or is he allowed to continue flying if the plane has no damage?

Thanks,
Terry :dunno:

Depends on who it was. Most likely there will be a "Fact finding!" and a determination based on that.

The one at CLE? It was super icy that day, we NOTAMed our runway as braking action nil. Even my dog had a hard time getting across the driveway to the grass that day!

Aren't they supposed to divert for a nil report?

Not sure of MCI. I don't know the CLE weather for that incident, but it's always white there. I landed in snow there a couple times two weeks ago. The plane left the taxiway, probably on a turn with no traction.

Normally, the pilots are taken from flight status and "retrained". A simple sim ride covering the problem.

Yes, NIL reports are serious and not for landing or taxiing.

They actually made a NOTAM for braking action at CLE? That would be a first for me. By the time they called it in the conditions could have changed dramatically by then.
