Tucsonans watching the Super Bowl got more action than they bargained for when a short clip from an adult movie channel interrupted Comcast's feed with full male nudity during the final moments of the game.
Officials at Comcast said about 30 seconds from Club Jenna, an adult cable television channel, were shown on the local Super Bowl telecast. The company was still working Sunday night to figure out how it happened.
Comcast had "no idea" at the time it happened how the porn may have gotten into its feed, said Kelle Maslyn, a company spokeswoman.

That's what I'm thinking. The TV station says it sends their broadcast to Comcast via fiber, so I doubt it was a signal hijack, which leaves the "human error" component, i.e. someone got fired today.

God I wish I still worked there. I'd love to see the insider poop on this one.

Sounds like a "Hey ya'll, watch this" event.

"Whatever you do, don't push that button."

"This one?"

:D

I wonder how many people thought it was just more Super Bowl commercial-spot one-upmanship? :D

Hey, the Puppy Bowl was blatant. They just ran it with a blackout square over a bonerchihauhua.

I got ripped off - I have Comcast, we didn't get any porn. Why does Tuscon have all the fun:confused:

BLECH!!!!! Guy Porn???? EEEWWWWWWWWW. I thought it would be something good.

Glad I don't live in Tuscon.:yikes:

Wow. The video feed froze, then switched to an alternate feed, which led to another freeze and then back.

Someone in the headend did this intentionally. When the video feed freezes like that, it means a service disconnect on a Motorola cable box. (edit: I mean, when digital signal on a Motorola Cable box is lost, it freezes on the last displayed frame).

To switch the frequency like that, think of a patch panel. You have to disconnect the coax from one channel, and the other channel, and then cross connect them. The service would be out as long as it takes to physically disconnect and then reconnect it.

A true test of my theory would be if anyone was watching Club Jenna at the same time and noticed the lack of signal for the same amount of time....

and is willing to admit it!:D

And since I just realized that this was Tucson, I know the cable system in Tucson like the back of my hand. Anyone in flashchat a few years ago remembers me complaining non-stop about the customers in Tucson....had I still worked at Comcast, I would have been fielding the calls on this exact issue....I might even know the guys (had to be 2 unless one was on break) responsible for this.

I wonder how long it'll be before Kelle Masyln comes out publicly and offers credit of some sort. That's the Comcast Solution to every problem. Hide behind credit.

LOL- I think you're right.

Revenge of a nerd...? :D If there isn't a security cam near that rack, there will be very soon...

It probably has no bearing on the problem; however, I was at my cousin's house in Topsham, Maine. At the referenced time her TV signal -- Comcast serviced -- went blank for about 30 seconds. She was sitting near the remote unit and I asked her if she had "edited" the transmission. She said that she hadn't. ???????????????
