Agreed.FDR and CVR in GA could help investigations conclude quicker and lead to more specific probable cause findings. The two benefits I see would be some closure for the friends and relatives and better training materials for those of us who are interested in learning from other pilot's misfortunes and mistakes.
But let me take this just a step further (you inspired me). Imagine how mad the lawyers would be if they now had definite proof that the deceased pilot goofed up. Now they won't be able to sue airplane manufacturers for millions in "emotional damages". And I wonder how the relatives would accept the footage that proves that their loved one made a deadly mistake. That would not be easy to digest, IMHO.
