It's a lot more than just a green screen.
:cool2:

I watched it and once again said to myself, "I've managed to live long enough to live 'The Jetsons'"

'Course they had to do the Star Trek transporter fade in.

I wanna see what that tent looked like.

OK...I have to give CNN props, that is WAY cool!

Call me contrary, I thought it was gimmicky. If they had just done it without saying anything, maybe I would be more amicable, but instead it was like watching the Batmobile get started in the old TV series.

"Prepare to activate Hologram!" "Ready for hologram activation!"
"Set condition 'holo' throughout the ship, power up primary and secondary photonic generators!" "All hands report ready for 3D transmission, sir."
"Very well then. Atomic engines to power, turbines to speed. Ahead three frames per second, and activate!"

Then they spent the first half of the interview I saw talking about... the hologram.

Just turn it on, then turn it off. When the camera filming the story becomes the news, the news is broken.

I just kept hearing in my head, over and over, whenever I saw them using that.... "help us Obiwan, you're our only hope"

I would prefer to see Fox's Megan Kelly in a hologram. Or any Fox babe. Have you seen their business network women??? :D

:ihih:

...

Sure it was gimmicky. What else are ya gonna do to get veiwersin a highly competitive night with a slow news flow?

There's a story of how CNN got the "magic wall." A CNN exec saw the demo at TED and approached the inventor to ask about getting it. They must have spent a fortune. That ain't Microsoft's version!

In the meantime, Tim Russert had a very small erasable whiteboard, and invented Red State vs. Blue State.

NBC brought Tim Russert back from the dead for the election night coverage!!!!

Holy Cow! that is some incredible technology!!!:rofl::rofl:

NBC wins hands down, who will they resurrect next?

;) ;)

CNN had the magic board in prior elections wise guy.

MSNBC did do a tribute to Tim Russert saying how much he would have loved seeing the way this election ended.

They could start making Hologram recordings of people so they can live forever.

You ever see Dev Null? That was over 10 years ago!

Leo Laporte was live off screen wearing a body suit with controls of the animation. The lip synching mostly worked!

I'll be impressed when the hologram is in my living room (or wherever the TV is).

When I can get a holodeck that is when I will be impressed, and probably the last time I will ever be seen by living people ever again ;)

If they ever use it for teleconferencing, I'm doomed.

They'll know I'm on POA, or worse, unshaven and wearing a torn T-shirt. :yikes:

I aggree. It was cool whizz bang technology and all, but it added nothing to the coverage that a live pic off a microwave truck wouldn't have done. Same with the desktop hologram of the capitol building with the open seats in the House and Senate projected over it. Cool - absolutely. Nessisary - not even remotely. Distracting - yeah, kinda.

Nope and don't want to.

Have you seen Campbell Brown on CNN??

So hot. But she should be back on NBC :yesnod::arf:

Give it time. It takes someone to go first, and then someone (probably someone else) will figure out how to use the new technology well.

Given, this isn't exactly ground breaking technology, but just a new application of old technology.

Nope and don't want to.

Aw, come on! A bunch of bimbettes with their chalupas bustin' out of their blouses, talking about money? What could be better than that!?! :D

Have you seen Campbell Brown on CNN??[/quote]

Intelligent, attractive, articulate....and sadly, taken...

While I think it was cool - the biggest thing I noticed was that her feet were missing. Must have been wearing green shoes. lol

And/or the shoes get covered up by the glowing red spot she "stands" on.
