Since the idea spawned in July, its been a busy few months. While its been in the shop for some work, I will announce it anyway. It pleases me greatly that with the family's help, we closed the deal and now own a 1975 Piper Lance, delivered on October 4th 2024. It is a Monster, doing go-arounds with it requires more care than just going full power instantly and it feels to me like its a pickup truck. Cannot wait to see places on my bucket list with this bird!PXL_20241004_212147523.jpg

Congratulations! What an AMAZINGLY capable plane for a family! I like the 6/Toga/Lance a lot for being able to load folks up and go have fun!
funny enough I wanted the fixed gear 6, but there were none in any good shape on the market at the time of search lol. Honestly, the Lance once up to speed, FEELS like an 70s Arrow II and I have a couple hundred in an Arrow II, this was cakewalk for me to get familiar with.

I think this classified you as a "real pilot" who flies a serious aircraft!

That's just awesome. She's a beaut!

That’s a really similar color scheme to mine.

Any questions just ask- there are several of us on here with these planes. Power wise just get used to moving the throttle a little slower than you would in a typical trainer. Also avoid chopping the throttle on final- it will drop like a rock. Slow incremental power reduction on final and leaving a touch of power in until the mains touch seems to produce the best results.

What are the birds doing? Admiring their handiwork?

Unknown. We stopped for lunch in Venice, FL. When we came back there was a flock gathered. They were not congregating anywhere else just at my plane.

Congrats! Welcome to the club!

I argue the Lance is the best piston single built. Unmatched comfort, top notch load hauling ability. The A36 will outrun us, but not by a lot. Anybody can work on them because they're just an overgrown Arrow. "Arrow Grande" to quote a phrase coined here.

Arrow Grande, I love it lol

If you are getting a checkout, take a few friends. It is a much different airplane with just you and an instructor than it is is at max gross weight.

Is a Cherokee six a "heavy"?

Congrats! Currently we have one in the hangar that made a hard landing. Going to be replacing some avionics.
