Classic (DWI Lawyer charged with DWI)

The charges have been dropped in a procedural move to avoid the defendant's right to a speedy trial, and this was expressly stated by the prosecutor's office. That's not allowed.

It's also worth noting that this was non-alcohol-related.

In NM, Every type of intoxication is DWI, regardless of alcohol or drugs, though.

But Nick's point still stands.
His commercials, and those of Russ Whitener
(And Diane Denish and Susana Martinez, and ....)

For sure - it is everywhere that I'm aware of. But I don't think you're going to find too many people who will say that boozing and then driving is the same in terms of "badness level" as is taking some prescription drugs with intoxicating effects and then driving.

Karma and all that. I am not a fan of lawyer advertising.

See: Gaston's and the mistaken birthday incident. :D

Now, see, technically, that was the fault of the clueless waitress ("...he's the BIG guy with PLAID shirt on, facing THAT WAY...").

But, what am I gonna do? Tell her she screwed up by perpetrating my clever and humorous scam (encouraged with great exhortations by my table-mates, who developed situational amnesia immediately after the Fruit Flew) against the wrong innocent victim? Nah, don't think so.

That trajectory was still remarkably accurate. Must be that exceptional Army Aviator training. :cornut:

Amen, Spike.
It was the beginning of the end of the reputation of a lot of lawyers regardless of whether they were "good" or not. We provide expert testimony in defense of the railroad industry, and in the last 12 years I have seen a tremendous amount of junk suits, supported by plaintiff experts who will say anything the plaintiff's lawyer tells them to (for $300 per hour).

Well you can start with me at least. I think it is.

Unfortunatly thats true on both sides of the case. I've seen whore Planitiff's experts and whore defense experts who know as long as they say what the attorney or insurance company wants them to hear they are going to keep getting paid.

Personally I prefer to use experts who are just experts with no prefix attached ie Plaintiff's or Defense. I find experts who work for both defense and plaintiffs are 100 times more credible. Also a good expert will tell an attorney his case is crap if it is. No way in hell I want to invest time and money in a dog.

Oh, we tell the railroads when their case is crap.
I told one RR lawyer that exhibit 1 for the defense in his case was a picture of the railroad writing a BIG check to the plaintiffs. The crew was speeding, the trees at the crossing had not been cut in a lifetime, and comments by the railroad personnel at the scene were inappropriate. The decedent was well liked, had held his truck driving job for 35 years with no priors, and was 6 months from retiring to care for his ailing wife. The lawyer wanted to cart out all sorts of reasons why it wasn't the railroad's fault, and it just was.
In the 12 years I've been at this job we probably deliver the bad news a couple of ties a year.

"Bell was taken into custody Saturday evening after an officer spotted him allegedly speeding and weaving in and out of his lane on Tramway Blvd."

For those who don't spend a lot of time driving in Albuquerque, let's just say I wonder what is was that made him stand out from the crowd.

Jon

LOL!!

Tramway is particularly bad, too.

Here in my county we recently had almost the exact opposite happen. A PA State Trooper who was in charge of DUI check points in Southeaster PA was found several months ago in his car run into an embankment with an open bottle of booze. The guy was charged with DUI and I belive put on Desk Duty. I had cases against this guy and IMHO he was a total jerk. His testimony and tactic were in my opinon decitful and the lowest of the low. He ruined many lives and then he got his just deserts. Then the night before he was to appear in Court on his Pretrial conference he got on the Schuyllkill Expressway in Philly and drove West in the East bound lanes and slammed into another car killing himself and injuring a woman in the other car. I never wished the guy harm but I'm anxious to see what his BAC was. I didn't think my opinon of the guy could get any lower. I was wrong.
