Cirrus down KBOW - FL

Bartow is my home field, I'm currenty away in the UK so I've not heard any more than what is in the news brief.

Looking at the location of the church in relation to the airport he could have been on left base for arrival into runway 9 or departing 27 when he hit problems, the church is just a couple of miles to the north of the airport, if he was departing he may have made a right turn to the north... one things for sure attempting a forced landing by doing a straight out of 27 wouldn't be advisable there is a large lake with something like 2000 gators living there. It's a wildlife refuge and with no residential properties around it's shore line it's the local relocation lake for gators that aren't big enough to be culled when captured elsewhere.

Happy to read no one on the ground was injured and the pilot survived the accident, wish him a speedy recovery.

That's an interesting bit of physics for a small airplane to flip a Jeep over upside down...

Indeed, however I think a fully loaded SR22 and the passport weigh pretty much the same. So, with enough speed, could definitely do it, especially if it was a sideways hit. Though maybe the car just got flipped that way.

Chute did not happen.

Looking at all that damage, it's impressive that the crash was survivable.

And the cirrus saga continues, good news on the pilot.

Why is everyone in the news calling the vehicle a "Jeep Passport" when the pictures clearly show a badge reading "Patriot". Honda Makes a Passport model.
FWIW, this ain't no Jeep anyway. It's just a Chrysler SUV. Jeeps look completely different, have an open top and can actually go into rugged terrain. Not SUVs. :)

Glad the pilot survived and had the attention of nurses on site.
Wishing him a quick recovery!

And there I am mistakenly thinking it was a Cirrus Passport. The one that gets you into the secret clubhouse...

Glad this had a somewhat happy ending for the pilot and everyone on the ground.
