Choosing a flight

[dpe.flights]

Are there any lists of schools that provide pilots with DPEs? My friend`s planning to start flight training (PPL) and currently selecting a school. I had to search for a DPE on my own which was quite challenging (remember my question here about searching). While instructors`re supposed to assist with finding a DPE, we’ve heard numerous stories where pilots ended up having to find their own. That`s a major headache he’d like to avoid.

Why is it a major headache?

Tell your friend to call the schools he or she is looking at in the area and ask. I highly doubt there is a list somewhere and even if there is I would doubt the validity of it without actually speaking to someone at the schools. And personally, finding a DPE may have been frustrating at times (having to wait weeks/months for their availability) but it really wasn't all that difficult either.
