My C175 with MASA 180 O-360 conversion has both engine driven and electric boost fuel pumps. Electric used for take off and landing.

I believe the plane was making partial power, but not enough to keep flying. Here is a link to the story.

It was much more interesting to hear from the drivers who saw the landing and have no idea what actually happened. They were scared, but then the adrenaline took over, and itching was all wow.I guess I'm in the minority on this one, but we always complain about how horrible the media is and how they get these stories wrong, so why not give them an actual factual first hand account?

They took off from my home field. From the runway and circumstances I don’t see any other choice for the pilot. It’s terrible the girl
Lost her leg. But would have been worse if life was lost.
