Carb heat only provides heat when the engine is warmed.

Some folks start with carb heat open. Just trying to discover if I'm missing something there.

Getting priming jet nozzles cleaned and top plugs changed from Champion to Tempest on Sunday.

Starting with carb heat on does nada for a cold engine start. You do understand how carb heat works, right?

Plus carb heat open just sucks dirty unfiltered air. No bueno. Useless unless something is very wrong.

Yes. That's why I could not figure out why some people were using it during a start.
