Cessna 150G Banner Plane

Just read at a local airport a 150G crashed while attempting to pick up a banner. From the article the airplane was unable to climb after picking up the banner. No word on engine malfunction and the pilot survived the crash into the woods. My question is seems a 150 whether it be any model is grossly underpowered to tow a banner. Anyone ever heard of a 150 used for banner towing? Are they modified with more power to perform this task?

Some of them have 180Hp when used in banner towing. Just saw one going up and down the coast in LA.

Quite common to use a 150 with a bigger engine installed.

Yep friend of mine has a 180 hp 150, used to to tow gliders ỉn Colorado.

We tow gliders with a C150 with a 150hp engine. They are also used to tow banners.
