It might not be texting.. but taking selfies at night IMC during the takeoff roll and climb out is probably not a very good idea!

Your sarcasm detector needs to be overhauled.

In reality there are definite phases of flight where you should be focused on flying the plane (ie, sterile cockpit)... but, like many laws, making an activity illegal doesn't necessarily help.. people with good sound judgment probably don't need the law, and those without probably won't heed the law. Catch 22

like in that NTSB case I linked about... a law would not have saved their lives
