Can a PP glider fly a powered Light Sport

I have a friend of mine that is a Private pilot glider pilot that wants to fly a powered Light Sport. Can he do so without any further training or endorsements? I'll add he currently flies a motor glider.

If, by "powered Light Sport" you mean something that is an "airplane", then that's a different category of aircraft, and so no. He'll need to get an "Airplane" rating on his PP certificate (training, written, checkride, etc.).

A glider is a glider, motor or not. An airplane is an airplane.

The appropriate rating(s) are required for each.

For instance I have my private pilot certificate. Two of my ratings are ASEL and Glider. I did my Glider add on doing aero tow. But even with those two ratings, I cannot legally fly a motor glider unless I get an endorsement by a CFI.

So since he has his PP Glider, all he would need to do is get a endorsement to fly a Light Sport Airplane?

Correct, all he needs is an instructor's logbook endorsement for LSA. But to fly a non-LSA airplane, he would need to take a checkride with an examiner to add the ASEL rating to his certificate.

Actually, I think he needs one LSA, Airplane Instructor endorsement to solo. Then he may have to take a written LSA Airplane written test. Then an Instructor endorsement for the rating, and a second LSA Instructor can complete the check ride, complete the paperwork 8711 to the FAA in OKC to get Light Sport Airplane added to his PP Glider, in order to carry passengers.
