Down in South Florida if the legit guy calls in a complaint then the illegal operator simply pays him back by calling in complaints on the legit guy, and often.

How does the illegal operator find out who called in the complaint? I thought the FAA Inspectors aren't supposed to tell.

Every airport I've been around is a huge gossip mill.

Also, through the FOIA you can acquire the records. Takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get them. The FAA has a centralized data system that everything is logged into.

Yea, that's what got the news story going in South Florida when the famous Singer was killed in the Bahamas in the C402 that was chartering without a certificate. The pilot overloaded the plane and out of CG.

It probably didn't help that when I read the NTSB report it said something about the pilot's body having various narcotics found in his system. The aft CG was the primary issue, though. Links in the chain...
