Currently under construction in the park is a $4.5 million visitor center. When completed next year, the 15,744-square foot structure will afford a spectacular view of the White River, Bull Shoals Dam and Bull Shoals Lake. The visitor/education center will be named in honor of Jim Gaston of Lakeview, owner of Arkansas’s renowned Gaston’s White River Resort. It will serve as the primary visitor contact point at Bull Shoals-White River State Park. In addition, the visitor center will be the focal point for the interpretation of the White River, Bull Shoals Dam and Bull Shoals Lake, and their histories.
I believe it is only fitting that some of the video footage to be used in the center was shot from a plane piloted by our own "TeenDoc" (Dr. Gil Velez) while he attended the 2006 fly-in.
