Pre-Flight
Is anyone planning on going to the Branson Airshow? It's May 8-10th. Never been to Branson before, but the show looks great.

From the email I received last week, I will be assigned to the Thunderbirds, I hope it stays that way.
Dawn, I will be there with the bird dog...we are also bringing a Stearman and one other warbird...
If you are going, look me up.

I think Amy and I will go. Some other non-POAers from the Des Moines and Ames area will go as well. Not sure what to expect, but it involves flying, so that's all I need to know.
I hear that the new airport will be closed to GA for that weekend, so we'll have to land somewhere else and rent a car. Kind of weird, but whatever. If anyone can elaborate on that, I'd love to hear. In my typical form, I haven't looked into it because it's still more than 3 or 4 days away.

I'm sure the airshow will be great but Branson itself...well...suffice it to say that if you don't yet walk with a walker then you're probably too young to enjoy 85% of the attractions.
It also helps to have blue hair and those big black wrap around sunglasses.
Hey Matt,
Actually the field isn't closed for the airshow, it just hasn't been officially opened yet. The airshow is commemorate the commissioning of the airport, which occurs on Monday, the day after the airshow. The airport is privately owned and ~$155 million was spent to build it.
Patty Wagstaff is scheduled to perform here. Good to see she has worked through her Oshkosh problems. How would you like to be her Extra when she is not happy?
Rick
The NEW airport will be closed to GA traffic during the weekend. Your options are; M. Graham Clark/Taney Count (PLK), Harrison, AR (HRO) and Springfield-Branson (SGF) all have rental car companies at the airport.
Is old man Clark still around? The guy with College of the Ozarks, is he involved?
Harrison AR is a long drive. I used to keep my plane there, it's one of those doglegged "can't get there from here" drives, at least used to be.

You haven't been back in awhile have you? Four lanes almost all the way now, only about a 20 minute drive. And as for watching the airshow from the lake, not possible. The new airport is on the east side of Hwy 65 and about 8 miles south of PLK.
The College has nothing to do with Point Lookout (PLK) anymore. After loosing the Jet into the side of an Ozark Mountain west of Branson a few years ago, they shut down the flight school. Then a few years ago they leased it to Taney County and they hired an airport manager. They County just put up a new hangar and it should be open soon.
Is the old man, Graham Clark still around though? He was also a pilot and an interesting guy. He was old back then, just wondering if he was still alive.
There was a super hot gal ran the office at Harrison, Kathy or Karen... little gal, fine fine fine, she still there? Ron the IA?
One time when I flew into Graham Clark field in Branson, I found a bunch of old restored aircraft in a hangar there. I don't know if they are still there or not. Here are some pictures I took of a few of them. Bob

I didn't realize Patty is so petite. For comparison - I'm 5'4".
