Really happy to hear that no one was injured or worse, but how can a person NOT find an emergency landing area in Kansas.?? :lol:
 
That's my neighbor's sector (KC Center controller). I'll have to find out if he was on duty at that time.

We've had a very hot and dry month of June, so that field he landed in was probably baked hard.
 
That was definitely the best written newspaper article I've read about an airplane incident/ accident!

If my 172 had looked like that, I may have kept it.
 
That's a sweet 172, and nice job by the pilot.
To be fair, this is in the actual article: "He was not flying a Cessna 172, although that was the plane he first flew when he was in his early days of flying. "
