well the soaring isn't looking very good. just have to find an airplane.
Cool!
Oh, I meant to say....I'm sorry that you can't go soaring.
The sofa bed in the living room is still available. Brent just spent four (or was it five?) nights on it and said it wasn't uncomfortable.
If you DO make it, and if you feel so inclined, feel free to fly the Citabria when you get here and give rides if you want. Bruce has the same offer.
Colorado is iffy for two reasons.
1. The B-90 is still going back together, with an interesting side note. The shop had to remove the ailerons to install some new bushings or push-rod ends or something, maybe fix a few sheet metal cracks. When control surfaces come off, they have to be balance-checked before they go back on. These wouldn't balance, even when adding max allowable weight, and the guys noticed the static wicks were the big-honking metal kind with the little barbs and spikes at the back. So they pulled them off and installed the normal rubber coated cable model, and balance was fine. So then they looked in the manual to see what is approved for that plane, turns out the big fancy ones aren't on the list. Flaps also had the big ones, but no wicks are called for on the flaps. Makes you wonder how they got on there in the first place.
Oh, my. So many details on those fancy, complicated airplanes. I don't know how they keep all that straight.
2. Mom may not be up to the trip yet. She was much better yesterday evening, hope that carries through for a while.
I'm glad to hear that she's doing better.
Bottom line for me, like always, is who the hell knows? I'd like to come.
Well, I guess we'll know when we are blinded by that shiney taildragger in the sky. I hope you can make it. I ordered cooler weather just for you since I know you don't like to sweat.
Here's the latest update on the fuel at LLU (or lack of).
Lamar is now out of 100LL (cropdusters have sucked it dry), but they still have auto fuel. I called the city of Lamar, and they called the fuel guy and they called me back and said the fuel guy couldn't come until Monday. I called the fuel guy myself and begged, pleaded, cajoled, nearly cried, and almost whined while explaining my predicament.
He *might* be able to bring it to Lamar today, or *might* be able to tell his boss the overtime is worth it to deliver fuel tomorrow. Or, he was likely wanting to get rid of me.
In the meantime, I have the FBO hours and prices in this area if anyone wants to know all that.
We're good with fuel for the Citabria since we have a 500 gallon tank here at the farm with ethanol-free auto fuel.
