Gosh, what a party! There are so many people I would like to thank, and for so many reasons. Most of all, I want to thank those of you who attended our fly-in.
It was really, really hot and I appreciate that you came in spite of the heat. Tom and I also appreciate those who gave airplane rides. Joe Areeda gave a LOT of rides in his Cirrus. Thank you, Joe!
We had about 80 people who made it to the farm, and I think about 23 aircraft total. Many pilots drove to the farm instead of flying in d/t the heat. The hot air balloon launch was fun, and Dean and I chased the balloon in the Citabria for awhile.
Joe's wife helped by being part of the ground chase crew.
We invited our neighbors this time, and I took their son flying on Saturday. They said they enjoy our fly-ins and hearing us fly over.
There are a lot of photos that I hope to post today when I get home from work. One short video clip involves Wayne B. playing his guitar singing "Lord, it's hard to be humble."
It sounds like everyone made it home okay.
Okay, so we all had such a great time that we're now too exhausted to post about it.
Me too.
Steve See?? Home safely?? You almost got away without me seeing you off!! (And I don't run around the farm in my jammies for just anybody, you know.)
I promise that those photos will never make the internet.
But, I'll send them to you in a day or two.
Diana?? Did you get a long nap, honey?? You looked beat. It may take you and Tom a few days to recover. It's a great party, but I think it may be too much work.
Took a HUGE nap.
And, you are right, it's too much work, so we have both decided that was our last big fly-in.
Did Diana tell you we watched ISS fly over while I was untying the plane tie-downs? A good omen.
It really was impressive, seeing that!
Steve, it was a wonderful surprise to see your airplane in the pattern at the farm. It was a LONG way for you to fly, and we're so happy that you came.
Tom can tell you I was worried about annoying the neighbors when I first arrived.
Fortunately, I was able to cross the county line fairly quickly on departure...lol.
Didn't take very many photos, but here are a few.
Jim, thank you for not posting unflattering photos.
After you left, we gathered back around in our circle of chairs again, out by the airplanes, under a beautiful moon. And then, a bright star appeared in the north sky. It almost looked like a shooting star, but slower.
We wondered if it was "The Birthday Star". And then we realized it was you.
Thank you for the fly-over.
I can't adequately describe the fly-in, so I hope the photos and video will do that for me.
Thanks again, everyone!
