Does anyone really ‘hunt’ for ice?

If you absolutely must have FIKI, then you need a 58 Baron. You can get ‘factory de-ice’ B55s, but they were never certified for known ice.

You can get a FIKI approved TKS system for the 55 from CAV aerospace. Not sure what he going price is right now, probably 60k or more.

Yes. I read an article not that long ago about a UND research project of some sort. They flew a Citation and went looking for ice. The part that made me as a North Dakotan and UND alumnus laugh was that they generally had to fly over to Michigan to find any ice, since winter in Grand Forks is too cold for clouds to form. (Or, as I told people when I lived in Phoenix and they asked how anyone can live in North Dakota when it's so cold, "It's a dry cold.")
