So I'm going to assume that people have hears this saying before. Question is does anybody have first hand experience? I'm at 2 right now. Friday afternoon my Ortho Doc says I need shoulder surgery to fix a shoulder impingement and AC joint degradation. That's going to be a few months recovery at the return of spring flying weather. And right after his visit, I went to see my regular Doc for a rash on my stomach show up the day before. It's shingles. The kicker is that I'm supposed to go to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday for a weeks vacation. So far the shingles don't hurt or itch, and they are starting to scab over. Hoping that I can still take my trip, but we'll see if that will be number 3.

The bad news is that I think you're right. The good news is the other two bad things don't have to be very bad.

I think I got lucky with the shingles, if that is possible. Seems like I caught quick enough and got on meds fast. I still plan on going on my trip, I don't care if I have to wear a t-shirt at the beach. I'm still a little weary of the shoulder surgery. The MRI also showed a few small tears, that will either be fixed during the surgery or let heal on its own. I've been looking on craigslist and ebay to find a used lawn tractor to convert into an aircraft tow . A 150 isn't heavy, but it can still be a little pain to move by yourself.

Wait for the surgery. I was told the same thing, but worked it out with exercise.... no surgery needed.

The three's thing is a old superstitious wife's tale thing.

I've had problems for years, made worse with exercise (weights and swimming mostly). Physical therapy didn't help. Problem is there is a large bone spur digging into the shoulder joint, causing the tears in the rotator cuff.

Been there done that on the shoulder, failed 2 injections then had surgery. I definitely enjoyed getting a good night without my shoulder aching all night. It still bothers some and I can't do push ups or lift away from my body with right arm but it is a lot better. However most do very well after the shoulder surgery like this, I bet you will feel heckuva lot better.

Shingles stinks for sure, glad to hear you were able to get on the meds early enough. Go to the Dominica, you would take the meds the same over there as you would here. Enjoy your trip!

Maybe the 3rd thing is your going to win the lottery!!!!!

I already won an airplane, so anything is possible.

Appendectomies always seem to come in threes. The first one says there will be two more and the second one will tell you when to expect the third. I had two people come in 15 hours apart so I told the ER Doc that she would probably be calling me at 5 the next morning. She called me at six because they were a little slow getting the CT scan report back. She thought I was psychic. I'm not, I'm just superstitious. :D

I haven't had an appendix in 25 years, so I'm safe for that,

The truth of the "Bad things come in threes" saying is that bad things happen often enough that it's easy to count up to three but you could substitute any small number and it would still work.

Depends how old you are. If you want to swim you will need surgery in both shoulders. Over head stuff, swimming, surfing, is not recommended over 50.

When real bad stuff happens it does not come in threes. It comes in eights to tens... or more  ....Sometimes known as SHTF.

I'm 35. I need my shoulder full function still.

If you got tears in your rotator cuff that ain't gonna happen. Please don't ask me how I know.

Mrs. Steingar says PT makes it loads better. Haven't tried that yet, and yeah it hurts just a bit to sleep on my side.

Bad things work with one another:
You drop a block you're about to put on a wall and it breaks.
It breaks by falling on your toe.
When it breaks, the wasp nest inside sends wasps after you.

Doc is hopeful that the tears are small enough that they will heal on their own after he shaves the bone down.

And #3 came today. Vet called, goofy stuff in my dog's blood work, they want to run more lyme disease tests.

Depends where tears are and which type. If inside the tendon it may very well heal without any problem it will just take a while.

PT always good!!
