Hello,
I am looking to buy a PCAS . I found a few online , and I know Zaon doesnt make them anymore. I found a proxalert which seems to be good according to what I read about it , but its $800. Is anyone selling any used PCAS systems or know a website where I can get some kind of discount ? Thank you

I have a working Zaon PCAS with the box and everything including the bluetooth dongle I'll let go.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

What was your opinion of it? I only got to use one a couple of times and was left somewhat unimpressed.

It picks up traffic good but if you don't have it tied to a display either wired or bluetooth, and if you don't have it wired into the audio system for aural warnings, the small display on them is difficult to keep an eye on for these old eyes.

Also, they don't discriminate. If the crop duster on the field below you is gassing up and has his transponder on, you're going to get a paint.

I've moved up to a GDL-39 hard wired to a 696 and just don't use it anymore.

I actually have a garmin aera 500 and a zaon XRX with all of the connecting cables that I was planning on putting on the bay this week (I just installed a 330es transponder). The setup between the 500 and the XRX was great; traffic was painted directly on the 500 and the audio cables offer an audible warning.

You can also use the Zaon XRX interfaced with WingX , Garmin portables and the old BK AV8OR Units

I have an XRX to supplement ADSB. I'll pick them up on the XRX usually before ADSB if they are low. Buzzing my local square, adsb is blank and the XRX is lit up. I'm not tied in, but it would be great if it was. I incorporated the XRX in my scan. At night, I'll pick it up when it detects as I usually see the "motion" of the arrows lighting up.

I think it's a great tool, but not fool proof. No transponder squawking, no XRX ID.

Mine has paid for itself twice (once near Austin Exec and once west of Banning approaching Fullerton). If you look through the menus, you can control some of the targets that will be a non-factor vertically (like +/- 1500 feet) as well as laterally.

I've only seen it false report once near Palm Springs (TIS and FF had no traffic - it was reporting one mile same altitude).

I'll be running mine until it gives up the ghost, unless ADS-B ends up better.

I did not have much luck with PCAS.

I have a Zaon unit and it works great 95% of the time. Once in a while it sends off a false alarm. Eveytime approach has called out traffic, its on my screen. Highly recommend! You can pick them up used at a good price.
