Been there. Yes, it is worth it. Especially if you like beech airplanes. It was originally the Staggerwing museum and has several of them as well as much documentation, etc..
It has expanded to cover first the B18 then the bonanza and recently the Aero club line (Musketeer, Sport, Sundowner, Sierra).

You can also take the Jack Daniels distillery tour while you are there. Don't worry about drinking and flying, While they make it there, Lynchburg is in a dry county so they can't serve it there.

I've been there and it's very much worth the trip. You won't be disappointed.

I stopped by there on my cross country trip. Nice visit, it was a rainy mid week morning so we were they only ones there.

Luckily another aircraft in the traffic pattern directed us to the museum and to find the grass access to park in front of the museum.

Great historical museum just off the taxiway at the airport. Park you aircraft right at the museum. Great friendly people, and my historic and record holding aircraft on display. Been there twice and they keep adding more aircraft and buildings each time.

I seem to recall Miss Piggys barbecue in town as well.
