Anybody in the North East heading to TX for Xmax?

Kent, what's your plan for coming to Houston? I'd love to try to get together with you before I go off to PHX if you're going to be in town in time. I leave the AM of 12/22.

Ted, I sympathize with your "loss," but I have to say that at 23 you got no business getting married anyway. Go figure out who YOU are first, and then find someone who goes along with that. At your age you should be shopping, not buying (so to speak). I thought of getting married at 23, and to think now about being married to said person gives me the willies. In my late 20s it clicked with me who I was and what I wanted out of life. THEN I was ready to make that commitment.

Am I lucky, then, or stupid? Celebrating 25 years next April, and if this is practice, then I must have missed the big game. My wife likes to fly, so I guess I stumbled on the right one ab initio (Ken, you can ask your wife what that means...:D).

That said, of course, it seems like all but a couple of the friends I had who got married at that age, are now divorced.

Unfortunately, I fall into the group which did get married at 23, and was divorced just 5 yrs later... Guess- once bitten twice shy... though I have come close a few times since, it has never worked out. So I'm still on my own... just me and my airplane,( and my chair, and my lamp, and my......{{ever seen The Jerk?}} )

Ok, as the thread starter I'm going to ask that everyone kindly refrain from any further talk about marriage on this thread - be it mine or their own. The only reason I brought up the end of my engagement was as to why I'm now backing out of Peggy's generous offer.

Further posts please be related to what this thread was supposed to be about. :)

It was a lot of fun to read this until Ted's announcement at the end.

POA folks are great!! I won't be in Dallas for Christmas or New Year, but will try to link up with folks in the Greenville, SC area over that period.

Best,

Dave

I almost certainly won't be there that early. When are you gonna be back?

Cathy and I are coming up on 18 years, so I know where you're coming from.

I guess we were just all floundering pro se while you were sui juris?

(See I can play that game too!!!) :D

but would put you out.

Am I the only one that had to read that slowly, about 10 times, before I understood what was being said? My mind automatically shifts two of those words.

We have fun here at work! :D

Thread creep is fine, obviously we've had some. The point was more that I didn't want to hear anything more about marriage/divorce/my recently terminated engagement. If someone starts a spin zone thread, though, I might join in.

Good, we have enough for an official smacking of Jesse with a large trout.

Everyone get in line and commence smacking!

You see, though, what we really need to do is smack a large trout with Jesse, via throwing him in the river at Gaston's.

To Dave and Spike: Dang, I'm going to Dallas (Arlington really) around Christmas. Is anybody left?...Troy?

We went to the airport and cleared the ice from the tie-down in front of our airplane. We had to do it in two shifts, taking a hike in the middle to the FBO to wrap fingers around a cup of hot chocolate and then into our tummies before finishing the job. We watched a Gulfstream taxi gingerly by. It was the only traffic we had seen in over a half-hour on what would normally be a busy Sunday afternoon. After I finished knocking the ice off the windshield with a big orange squeegee called a sno-rake, hubby asked if I wanted to go fly. I just smiled sweetly and shoveled ice. A jet took off and its thunder grew louder as it approached the cloud overhead and then disappeared before it had gone the entire length of the runway.

The biting wind gave way to freezing rain. I fell onto my back in a slow-motion dance on the ice. Eventually, we had cleared a path from the airplane to the taxiway and I called out, "As soon as I finish this bit, we'll go." When Hubby agreed instantly, I knew he was as cold and wet and tired as I was.

Tonight we expect rain, snow, and ice. All those things that don't stay postmen from their rounds.

If we can get out on Friday night, it looks like we'll be going around more of the same. Happy Holidays.

Hopefully next weekend will be better flying weather than this weekend. Just keep us posted on what your travel plans are going to be. Preferably, give me a call on Friday as soon as you've figured out whether or not you think you'll be coming, because if you won't then I'll probably just head straight to New York.

Looking forward to it, hope to see you on Friday! :)

Why would you all want to insult the trout by throwing Jesse in the river at Gastons?

(by the way, can I hit him with a large bass, if I bring my own?) ;) ;) ;)

Ric, why not just use a giant bag of Gulf Shrimp? ;) :D

Because THEN you end up with shrimp all over the place! With a trout, you can hang on to the trout, wash it and cook and eat it later! Or smack Jesse with it again! :)

Trout is a pretty tough fish but then again Jesse may have a hard head

Sorry Jesse couldn't help myself :D

Well, Friday is approaching pretty quickly. How's the weather looking? :)

That's exactly how I feel right now! :D Gotta love the flu!

Oh wait:

Looks like maybe a later Saturday departure *might* work, which would be just fine with me. I'll have to look again tomorrow. :dunno:

Well, either way I won't be along for the ride, I just want to know if I'll be getting visitors tomorrow. :)

Uh, now you will not be getting visitors because you have the Flu!

Nope. Friday night has been cancelled due to freezing rain.
Feel better.

Hopefully you'll still make your trip down. We'll arrange another time for you to visit Williamsport! :)

We tried to get out Friday morning, but had to turn back. We'll certainly try to visit another time.

Definitely! You're welcome anytime, just call ahead to make sure I'm not in the sky myself. :)
