Anybody done a Vref lately?

For fun I decided to do a Vref via AOPA on my 1967 Cherokee 6/260.

Paint is 6/10, New interior. Just added a 430W and a GTX335. Engine is mid time. Vref was almost $90,000. LOL

That lower or higher than you were expecting?

Much higher.

Paid $55K for it 3 years ago. Added the both the interior and 430W within the last 6 months.

I'm seeing the same trend on my C-172N (180 hp). Coincidentally I was looking at it because I'm thinking of moving up to a PA-32-260 or -300.

90k? Seems low. With the interior and 430, you could probably get 120+.

Cheap financing that now goes all the way back to 1960 for some lenders will drive up prices. Inventory is down and demand is up.

Plane ownership is probably out of the picture for good for me. I can’t see prices dropping substantially without an economic crash similar to 2008.

I calculate and set Vref and Vapp for every landing...

Just ran vRef for my plane. The biggest issue I see with them is engine valuation. vRef credits 25,800 from my O-470R. The shops that would overhaul a big bore Continental for $26K I would touch with a stick. I think they assume overhauled cylinders instead of new. Factory reman's are $33K.

The going rate is more like $30K-35K; plus and extra $10K for hoses, engine mount, prop governor, and what else has to be addressed. Even Lord rubber mounts cost me $590.
