I'm looking for a flight school that has a decent hotel right on the airfield in the way that Osh has the Hilton Garden Inn right there. Does anyone know of any flight schools like that in the continental US?

KVNY. Choose the flight school wisely though.

What hotel is on KVNY? I'm very familiar with Van Nuys and am not familiar with any hotel directly adjacent the airfield.

KSSI - Hilton Garden Inn part of the FBO. Pretty sure there's flight instruction available there.

Can this be near the field? Such as reasonable walking or biking distance?

Airtel Hotel. But it’s on the east side of the runway, and flight schools are on the west and north side, so it’d be a long walk to get to them.

The hotel provides a free shuttle service. You can also park your plane at the hotel (on the airport side of the fence).

Yeah, it'd be a really long walk lol! Could maybe park a golf cart in the hotel parking lot and drive it over there every day, but I just mapped it out and it would be 1.7 mile one-way golf cart ride just to the other side of the airport where the flight schools are at Prop Park West. Ha! And you'd have to make a runway cross, so would have to carry a handheld VHF and then wait for Tower to give you clearance to cross the runway to the other side. KVNY being the busiest GA airport in the USA, at times, you could be waiting quite a bit for clearance to cross.

Hillsboro KHIO. Best Western and a Comfort In across the street. Like about a 3 minute walk if the the signal is “WALK” when you get to the crosswalk.

KHWD. Hayward, CA. There are 3 flight schools: California Airways, PFC, and Hayward Flight. There is a La Quinta across the street from the airport. Another within 3 blocks. A nice shopping center also across the street and an Italian restaurant next to the hotel. More restaurants nearby.

KLAL in central Florida has a few flight schools with a hotel right on field.

...but with Uber is that really a determining factor for a flight school choice?

Pray Aviation near Wichita has a bunk housing type deal you can stay in for a few extra bucks a month.

Albert Whitted, St Pete Florida. Downtown airport, Hilton = 10 mins walk. St Pete Air are good folks.

As mentioned, there’s a shuttle.

Flying W in New Jersey is right on the field.

KAPA with multiple flight schools on the field. Hotel across the parking lot. Other hotels within 3-5 miles. Closest public transit is the main E-W road about 1-2 miles north of the airport. Public transit refuses to come down the street to the main parking lot of the airport.

Second for KHDW. Restaurants in walking distance too. Also fantastic weather, and TONS of practice spots very near by over the hill in farm country for VFR and IFR training all the way to Sacramento.

Also easy to take BART rail system around the area and to San Francisco.

KADS, KTKI, KGPM, KFTW, KDTO all have schools worth investigating. And each have lodging choices close by.

Many of the Part 141 schools have housing available as part of their offerings. Some, such as US Aviation at DTO, operate shuttle bus or van to/from their housing.
