Another runway incursion, collision avoided

Interesting nobody has yet had comments on this incident. Another collision avoided. However, hard to tell how close it really was, or roles of the pilots, ATC, or both.

Southwest and Alaska Airlines planes nearly collide on Nashville runway, spurring FAA investigation

The crew of Alaska Airlines flight 369 "discontinued their takeoff" at Nashville International Airport when Southwest Airlines flight 2029 "was cleared to cross the end of the same runway," according to the FAA. It is not clear how close the two aircraft came to colliding.

I'd be interested to hear from anybody here who works ATC what the FAA is doing re: incursions on the controller side.

The tires didn't blow, the fuse plugs melted to prevent them from blowing. The Alaska plane appears to be on a ramp and not a taxiway.
