Used to be you could mess with the telemarketers. Now every call we get is a robocall. Most are computer generated text-to-speech calls, and even the text isn't decent English. Not even Google Translate quality English. Then there are the ones that try to SOUND like a live person, but aren't. Play a greeting, wait for a response, keep right on going regardless of the response. We VERY rarely get an actual person, so it's really not any fun any more.
I did get a call a couple of weeks ago. Nice sounding girl, very Chinese but trying hard to speak English well. I listened just long enough before venting to discover that she worked for a PCB manufacturer and was calling to offer me a deal on their service. Well, OK, I'll cut them a break... I HAVE used Chinese PCB manufacturers, and although I sold that business I'm not going to get too upset if they take the time to call in person all the way from Guangzhou or wherever.
Got the new Ooma yesterday. We'll beat on that for a few weeks to see how well it works, and if it's good we'll port our landline number over and let Nomorobo deal with them.
