One interesting side effect of the cleanup of the registrations I haven't seen discussed! is how many FAA bureaucrats used the old numbers of aircraft as justification for how busy they were and how much budget they needed to handle "all these airplanes"?

Don't think that particular unintended consequence has come home to roost fully, yet.
