Android Blows!

But one mobile expert has his doubts about what actually happened. Daniel Harrison told FOX News, “…it looks to me like it wasn’t something that was just a manufacture defect. It looks like it was actually user caused." Motorola is investigating.
Sounds like it'll be a fun investigation! I wonder if we'll ever find out what happened.

LiION batteries can explode but I have never heard of one doing that when it was not plugged into a charger. I also wonder if it was an OEM battery or an aftermarket one?
So will the TSA ban Android phones now?

A laptop battery contains roughly the stored energy of a hand grenade, and if shorted it ... hey! You can't arrest me if I prove your rules inconsistent!

He probably downloaded that "Blow Up Your Phone" app. Apple's screening process would stop such an app from making it to an iPhone.

That, sir, is the second best TSA related XKCD comic ever done...

My guess is that they will begin searching any body cavitiy where one may possibly hide a LiION battery. Reminds me of a recent news article where they arrested a couple of fat girls that were shoplifting by hiding items between rolls of body flab and under their breasts.

The option to disable the "random explosion" is buried way deep in the preferences.
