Any one have experience with these? Are the a quality built aircraft etc......??

They look to be in the same class as the 150/152, Tomahawk, Skipper,
AA1A...

Flew one years ago in North Carolina as it was the only plane available. It is a small trainer as I remember it. Has a huge tail that had 25knots demonstrated.
gull doors I think with basic panel and light weight.

I would take a STOL Zenith hand down over the others, super fun plane and very nice backcountry machine.

It will cruise at 90mph @ 6GPH... 100 mph @ 12GPH... 110 mph @ 20GPH.....

The airframe "hits the wall" aerodynamically at around 102 mph or so...
But , the trade off is I can take off in 50 feet...:yes::D:D
 
I fly a 2006 CH2000 almost every week. Nice trainer, but don't expect to get to where you want to go very quickly. Lycoming 0-235-N2C, 116bhp that's a pain to start in any temperature below 30. For a 2 seat trainer, it has much more room than a 152. I'm 6'2' and its very comfortable.

Fuel-28 gal. (standard tanks)
Max TO wght-1692lbs
TAS @65%, 2000ft- 95kts (5.7GPH)
TAS @65%, 4000ft- 97kts (5.7GPH)
TAS @65%, 6000ft-100kts (5.7GPH)

50ft! I need to get on of these to fly out of my backyard!
 
They fly fine but are very cheaply built. I flew the first 500 hours on one and had every imaginable problem develop after about 200 hours. Not an airplane I would recommend to anyone.

OK, this explains it... That is how can a plane the sold for $100K new be selling for $30K with under 2K hours 10 years later...

Do either of you know if there were AD's on it like the Tomahawk?
 
Don't know about ADs but I'd pick a Tomahawk over an Alarus any day. Without a doubt! I've done a good bit of instructing in Tomahawks, too and think they've really had a bad rap. Occasionally a little oscillation about the vertical axis, but tap the rudder and it stops.
