The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
I came across a pilot who has the new AKG AV100 headset who speaks very highly of it. He owns some of the LS PFX's and claims the AKG's are noticeably better. Another buddy who recently purchased some Zulu.2's says he plans to upgrade to the AKG.

Any other sightings or reports from this crowd?

I can't give a flight report but I tried them and Lightspeeds on at the vendor's tent at the AOPA Beaufort fly-in.

Wow! Headset fit is always a matter of personal preference, but I found the AKG to be among the most comfortable headsets I've ever put on. If you don't know AKG is a division of Harman - the stereo equipment folks - and the sound quality shows.

They are doing a promo now - $850 started at Lakeland and ends at OshKosh.

I have owned a set of AKG's for several years. Some days I do 1000NM or more. I find the AKG to be comfortable and the features useful. My backup headset is a Bose X. So far so good. YMMV.

I was very interested in them, but someone said they're getting back out of the Aviation headset biz... Or wait, that was Sennheiser... Or both... Well anyway... Decided I'd better stick to a brand that'll likely be around in 15 years since the DCs are at least that old and still going. So the ANR are Zulu2 Lightspeeds nowadays.
