Airgizmos GPS Dock

I see more and more Airgizmos GPS 500 Panel Dock in the panel opening for GPSMAP 196-496 mounted in certified aircraft. I do not see any STC or other paperwork to be able to install it in a Cessna 172 or any other certified aircraft, is this legal or not.

It’s legal enough that a local 135 operator had a dock and GPS in their charter airplane.

Fully legal. Just replaced the 496 dock in mine with a 660 dock, and I love it!

Same here. Replaced my old 396 with Aera 660. Wired it to power, my GDL 39 3D (to provide power and for data connection), audio panel and my 430W (to mirror flight plans). Works really well.

Too further the question, I have a 496 installed and never use it. I'd rather use the real estate to mount a thingy for my iTabulator. Is it completely legal for me to remove it and give the kit away to someone who wants one? I'm no A or P.
