Airbus Spoilers Deployed...

But it took nearly five years for airplanes to claim their first victim.
Wright's first flight - 12/17/1903
Wright's crash that killed Lt. Selfridge - 9/17/1908
That was the longest time between accidents in powered flight history. I guess we haven't really gotten better.

Pretty sure fatalities per mile OR hour flown are significantly lower now than even after those 5 years without a fatality.

I’ve trained many pilots to fly VFR and IFR in glass panel Cirruses, DiamondStars, experimentals, and so on. I can’t tell you how many of them had no idea where they were, even with a 10″ full color moving map directly in front of them. When asked the simple question, “Where are we right now?”, you’d be surprised how many have a tough time coming up with an answer.
Sounds like you're doing it wrong then. Maybe they need to find a new instructor...

The last time I got "lost" was before I got my PPL, long before I ever saw a glass panel. Never with a glass panel in front of me, lol.

I love the G1000 AND my paper charts;)
