Heard one on the radio this morning. Featuring "Edna", who wants lower prices and taxes on airlines, and making sure that corporate jets pay "their fair share". It concludes with "Listen to Edna, the Senate MUST not pass a bill unless it contains those five items...."

Here we go, folks.

Phil Boyer mentioned that. I'm sure the Aviation Aliiance will be running ads telling the truth.

Phil thought there would be a push for a compromise Senate Bill next week.

Only Senator Rockefeller, who has sworn that there must be user fees, is holding it up. AOPA is going to think of a way to let Rockefeller back off with honor.

Funny story; at the end of last year's session congress had endless delays flying home. They were all steamed and ready to buy the ATA B.S. Phil pointed out that they all flew from Reagan National where GA has been banned since 9/11. :P

This debate is just silly. Most airlines have received massive bailouts from the government. Many airline routes (and therefore, what consumers pay) are already heavily subsidized. It's not a matter of corporate jets not paying their fair share. If anything, they're paying too much.

They can't run their business effectively. They've foisted off their costs on just about everyone else. Why not go after GA and BizA? Hell, you don't expect them to actually figure out how to earn money on their own, do you?

The bills the ATA wanted remove ALL TAXES on jet fuel. Guess that's their fair share.

OH, and if you read their website you'll discover that they really want ALL GA to pay for ATC, but they're willing to give 100LL folks a pass - because they don't fly IFR. Reinforcing the second-class IFR citizenship.
