Sometimes this is just too much fun. Flying with Jim Awalt and his beautiful Piper Mirage.

My wife looked over and just told me I should get a plane like that
When I was taking the interior shots, I was impressed. It's as gorgeous inside as it is outside and looks like it would be an awesome place to spend some hours on a cross-country.

He told me the original owner sold it at a loss of $400K. I laughed and told him I have about $25K in my plane total! His tug was almost 1/3 of the price of my plane!

I had no idea there were that many hangars up there on the hill..

That place has grown. Ridiculous airplane, far beyond the reach of us mortals...

Yep, it's grown and a lot of people live there now. I used to fly with Rusty Allen in his Stearman years ago. I don't think anyone lived there at the time, the airport was always quiet. Seems like a really cool place now.

Nice pics! You know, your in flight photos, and this is a compliment, remind me of photos from Flying Magazine many years ago taken by Paul Bowen. Not sure if you're familiar with him.

That's a very nice compliment, thanks! Paul is a legend in aviation photography. Even if you don't know him, you've seen some of his photos. I'm also a big fan of Jim Koepnick. Jim told me when he sees my work it reminds him of his own... pretty cool!

Despite the in-flight photos being gorgeous, the hangar photo is probably my favorite! Looks fast just sitting still!

Yeah, it looks stately, dignified, authoritative. Nice pics, as usual.
Thanks! Part of that is me squatting down, a few weeks after a hip replacement, to get the shot I wanted. Also, I asked him jokingly if they were out of big flags when he got this one. He laughed and said it was a gift and the first one was actually too big. They had to get a smaller one so it would fit!
