Finally got a chance to do another photo shoot. Two more in the morning, stay tuned!
Very nice. I just love the propeller speed captured. Don't always see that in pics. Interesting backgrounds too, help make the photo. Well done as always Jack!
Low sun angle, full prop disc, classic airplane ... Love it!
Thanks guys! Luckily this is just the local country-side! No special efforts for good scenery.Real nice...!!!
Thank you! Yes, I have a job. Lots of vacation saved up! Nope, not hiring.Great pictures, as always.
Do you have a job? If so, are y'all hiring? Obviously you get plenty of time off and you get paid enough to fly. That's good in my book!
Thanks. Canon 5D Mark iiiThose are really great! What kind of hardware were you using?
Thanks! I agree it's a very nice plane. It has a different engine though, more horsepower and not a geared engine!Great photos and the nicest-looking Skylark I've seen! Too bad Cessna made so few of them.
Thank you! In the Maule photos the other day, close to 2,000 AGL, in these photos around 1,000. We're not that close, I'm using a good zoom lens. We're close enough if you accidentally saw a plane that close when flying it would startle you, but not that close when we know where the other guy is!Those look great!!! I have a couple of questions. How high are you guys and how close do the planes actually get? It looks like you are right next to each other.
Thanks so much! I'm testing the waters. Hoping to go into business soon, and the great feedback I'm getting tells me I'm on the right path!Wow - I really like your pictures.
Funny you should mention that... 24x36 ordered yesterday! Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully more to come this weekend. If it was my plane I would want a poster size picture. Nice job. Keep posting.

I will let you know Lou. I'm only printing a few to show as examples. You've seen my hangar and I'm about to add 50 more 8x10s to the wall! Unless someone wants to pay extra, I'm only selling them the digital version. The resolution will be high enough to print as big as they want though!Jack, my good buddy is in printing business. Lemme know (PM/txt me) what kind of price you're getting and I'll talk to him. He's local so he can deliver posters within 24 hours.
I never shoot through plexiglass. In my plane, or the 210, I'm just disconnecting the latch where the window can open all the way. It won't hit the wing. In the Maule, we will remove the baggage doors and I will ride back there, tethered by my mountain climbing harness! I live for adrenaline!I shoot with the same camera, but haven't yet figured out how to get good photos from the Cessnas I rent... Do you shoot from a plane with the doors off? In other words, how do you get good air-to-air photos without dirty old plexiglass in the shot?
Thanks! I try to go within an hour of sunrise or sunset. Gives them a nice golden look!Nice work, those great choice in the time of day and I like your camera work too
For clarification, I am not pushing my friend's prints. He gets nothing from them. I am just offering a local option should someone need a print asap. I have a feeling I will have him print me a 2'x3' of the Cardinal one day.I will let you know Lou. I'm only printing a few to show as examples. It's usually not hard. It depends on the plane. In the 210, it's just one phillips screw.I never thought to disconnect the window latch… come to think of it, I'll have to look at it again the next time I fly to see how hard it is to disconnect. Can this be done without tools? Obviously the FBO would probably frown on me taking their planes apart, unless I can do it with minimal effort, and I can't say I've ever looked closely enough at the latch to know! I'd love to take some nice photos with my good camera while flying. I'll probably need to bring a second pilot along to do this kind of stuff though…
I do like the method you use for taking photos in the Maule. I should have known that my rock climbing harness could have other uses

Awesome pictures! You have a real talent for capturing the beauty of aviationFinally got a chance to do another photo shoot. Two more in the morning, stay tuned!
I hope I don't keep it that long! My goal is to fly this for awhile and see if I can get business up. If so, I may by something else. If not, I will probably buy something that doesn't drink so much.Congrats on the share of the 175 Jack! Just time to convince the others to convert it to tailwheel
No filter, just a slow shutter speed. Thanks! What filter are you using together the prop movement captured? Very nice.

O-360What engine was the 175 converted too?
There were also quite a few that had Franklin 220's installed. Those will really scoot. Most of the 175s and Powermatic 172s I've seen in the past ten or fifteen years have ditched the GO-300 for an O-360. It's a popular swap.
