Air-to-Air Cessna 150

After weeks of cloudy days and rain, we got some sunshine and beautiful flying weather in Central Texas. Garner Thompson's Cessna 150 looks like it just came off of the line! It's one of the nicest I've ever seen and I can't wait to see it on the cover of Cessna Owner next month.

I like the gear shadow on the right wing. If you look closely, you can even see the shadow of the step!

He did. Others tried before him. Didn't work out so weell for Jimmy Branson.

Yep, very similar paint scheme.



Seems strange to use full flaps while racing, but I don't know much about air race techniques.

Judging by that cowling, I'm assuming 150HP. I flew one once and while it wasn't much faster, it could climb like a homesick angel.

How can you tell from the cowling whether it's been upgraded to 150hp?

Bigger spinner and the top of the cowling over the spinner is round and goes around the spinner. Usually this is done on 150 or 180 conversions.

I could be wrong, but this one doesn't look stock.

The single exhaust pipe angled aft as it exits the cowl indicates it’s not an O-200A inside the Iron Eagle cowl, which, being a 150M, would have a factory Continental engine.

Man, if I ever end up in your neck of the US I'm calling you to get some photos done of our little Colt. So far, I only have one in flight pic from a friend that flew with me this past weekend and its nice, but nowhere near as nice as the photos you take.

LOL, thank you! Trust me, when I saw this plane pull up on the ramp, I had a smile on my face. Very nice 150.

Poor Doug got shot down over the baring straits. Everyone thought he died but turns out he is reported to be in a Soviet prison to this day.
Too bad he doesn't have a son that could fly over there and rescue him from the enemy prison. If Jimmy Branson was alive, I bet he would do it.

I'm still patiently waiting for Rocky VI / Rambo V.

Here is the plot…. Rambo V is where Rambo sneaks into some delightful Siberian prison resort to rescue Ivan Drago after losing to Rocky, drags him back to America, and then sets up the long-awaited rematch for Rocky VI. It’s a full-blown, three and a half hour theater extravaganza, knock-’em-sock-’em wheelchair cage match complete with geriatric pharmaceutical product placements.




Honestly, I’d buy tickets..
