That’s a awesome price for the list of features. Only I think I don’t buy is the probe less AOA. Not sure how they measuring that angle without a physical probe.

Yea, the only doughnuts I want come from Winchell's ...... I suspect it is a really good guess at what the AoA is, but I don't buy the problems AoA at all. Don't care who makes it... Especially Boeing!

Just remember, most gear aimed at non-certified aircraft is 1/3rd the price of similar gear in certified configuration.

Aspen claims to do it. I'd suspect an algorithm involving attitude, pitot-airspeed, gps-groundspeed.

I have issues when AOA is computer from airspeed, but I am full of issues and no one cares... so there is that

They determine pitch angle with the AHRS, then determine flight path angle from IAS/VS and then adjust for G-load. The example they give is that if the pitch angle is 10 degrees and the flight path is 7 degrees then the AoA is effectively 3 degrees positive.

Just went on the list for 2 as well looks like a nice alternative to a dual G5 setup.
 
Hopefully they come through with the GPSS promise..... That would be a G5 killer to me.

Showing them both as the same price in their basic configuration unless I'm reading it wrong.

E stands for experimental and C for certified.

So 'probeless' depends on the Pitot probe and static port and all kinds of assumptions. I like the display, but I'd find a better source of AOA if I were going to use it.

Whoa...UPDATE!

"The philosophy for the AV-30 (when configured as a DG) is to replace the vacuum driven DG with an electrical equivalent. It was not initially intended to replace an HSI, which is an integral part of a flight control system and has multiple interface requirements.

The AV-30, when installed as a stand-alone display, will not interface to the autopilot.

However, based on feedback, we have designed the APA-10 Autopilot Adapter to address the wide variety of autopilots found in legacy aircraft. The APA-10 will provide roll, pitch, heading datum, course datum and flight director to/from the autopilot.

We have also incorporated dual ARINC receivers, which will allow the AV-30 to communicate to a digital radio (Garmin 4XX/5XX Series, or compatible). This will allow full traditional HSI functionality down the road.

Autopilot integration will be provided after the initial stand-alone certification effort."

Seriously considering pulling the trigger on a deposit to reserve two slots here. Question now is whether or not my aircraft will be on the AML...
 
If it will be a legal back up for Aspens, G3X, etc, I think it has a lot to gain.
 
Now they're talkin...Here's hoping the KCS55A ystem holds out until it's all certified.
