Aerobatic amphibian?

OP here - thanks for the Waco suggestion, I guess I had not specified a price limit, but I hadn't ever thought of that option! ;)

I should have added "single engine, reasonably priced" to my original post. I realize "reasonable" is in the eye of the beholder but to me personally a Citabria or Scout, like I mentioned in my post, would fit that description, whereas a Waco is a little pricey!

Anyway, it's possible I missed something in the other 41 replies, but I don't think I saw any other suggestions of an acrobatic plane that also has amphibious floats available.

Oh well, that kind of confirms what I was thinking when I made my post Thanks anyway!

Quite a few aerobatic homebuilts have been put on floats.

Dana, thanks - I think you were the one who mentioned the Waco, too, which I hadn't thought of.

I'd be open to a homebuilt, can you elaborate on any that are (1) aerobatic and (2) have amphibious - not just straight - floats available? (I know "available" is a loose term on a homebuilt, but in this context I guess I mean something like "has had at least a few examples already flown with the floats and/or the float manufacturer markets them as being suitable for the homebuilt"...)

I vaguely remember seeing a single instance of an RV (7?) on floats at OSH once, but I was thinking a high-wing would be a bit more practical in terms of docking/beaching. But open to any suggestions!

Thanks again!

In the experimental world, you can do pretty much whatever you want. If you can put it on floats, you can put it on amphib floats. I've seen a Hatz biplane on floats, though I don't recall if they were amphibious. I've seen Kitfoxes on amphib floats... the Kitfox isn't really intended for it but some pilots do light aerobatics in them.

At least one version of the Avid Flyer (from which the original Kitfox was copied) could be equipped with the "Aerobatic" wings in place of the "S.T.O.L." wing. Amphibious floats are available - modified Avid floats, Full Lotus, Zenair...

Quite a story behind the Dornier. Apparently a modern wing design and three Turbines.
