I recently moved. Does my student pilot license address need to match my drivers license address? I’ve changed the address with the FAA.

I have my checkride coming up, but my drivers license address and student license do not match.

In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, FAA certificate holders are required to update their mailing address within 30 days of obtaining a new address.

You can do it online.

https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/airmen_services/

If you JUST moved (like within 2 weeks) I would probably just make the change in IACRA so you don't end up with multiple plastic certificates.

No. Unless you specifically request (and pay for) a new certificate, you won’t get one with an address change.

when you fill out the 8710 for your checkride you’ll have your correct address on it, and your shiny new certificate will be issued with the correct address.

Thank you pilots. I changed the address in IACRA and changed the address with the FAA.

Checkride is in 3 weeks and I am studying, flying, and scrambling to make sure I have everything in order.

Make sure to check out the pinned thread at the top of this page "Captain Levy’s Checkride Advice"

Good luck!

When changing an address with various motor vehicle departments/divisions, not all will issue a new license with the new address. Montana, for one, will not. If you do the address change in person, they will issue you a pink card with your new address that is supposed to be taped to your license. Mine rarely lasted more than a couple weeks before it was mangled and unreadable.

Still, a "Home of Record" address could be very different than your residential or mailing address. While I was in the Navy, my Montana DL had my Home of Record address and I actually carried the same physical card for 18 years without renewing. It did not expire, no matter my address, until I left the military.

When I got my PPL in Guam, my DL address and my PPL application address could not have been more different. :D

It’s been said before but bears repeating, make sure that your name is exactly the same on your driver‘s license, IACRA, student pilot certificate, Knowledge Test, and medical. Exactly the same.

I just read Captain Levy’s advice. The one thing I really need to take to heart is “relax”. That is easier said than done; as this is unfamiliar and I do not know what to expect.

Yes, the FAA, IACRA, student cert, and drivers license all read the same name.

And your Voter Registration lest you suddenly find yourself deregistered when you go to vote.

Wow. Guam? When did you do that and what school did you use?

It was in 2001. There was no official school. Did it Part 61 with Al Dilks. All my pre-solo stuff was done in a Freedom Air C-172. The insurance did not allow student solo ops so I went across the tarmac and rented a couple different 172s from Mr. Miagi for the solo stuff. The solo cross "country" was entertaining.

PGUM > PGWT > PGSN > PGUM

Haven’t been to Tinian yet. Intend to before we leave Guam. I fly to Saipan a lot. Had reason to spend a couple of days there once. You can pretty much see all of it in a day.

I am enjoying Guam while I am there.

Good for you. Far too many do not allow themselves to enjoy their stay. We enjoyed it so much I did a double-tour.

Nope. As long as your FAA address is the current one no one cares.

My DL address still shows my childhood home because the idiots at the DMV can’t seem to update it correctly. My car is the same way. I wrote my current address and they listed my car under my parents because that’s what my DL says... Makes paying property taxes so much fun.
