Accelerated IFR

Just curious for those who have done accelerated programs. Do the schools typically have a DPE that is a part of the program or do you use our local DPE. For example, iflyifr comes to my area for 10 days, ok maybe more, when they leave are you just signed off to take check ride or is your check ride actually finished. Can't be easy to coordinate with local DPE

They just sign you off. You have to find someone local for the check ride.

Some of the schools have a DE that is part of the school, like the owner.

I believe GATTS has a DPE onsite.

American Flyers will use a local they have a good relationship with.

PIC maintains a roster of DPEs around the country and will find one close to where the training is located.

There's a great accelerated course righr there in garner that flys out of Johnston county.

I used PIC where they came to me and they had a database of DPE's...most importantly of who to avoid using. They target for and try to do your check ride on your last day while the CFII is still with ya, but in my case we could not schedule a DPE in time so I wrapped training on a Sunday, CFII went home then I did my check ride the following Wednesday on my own. CFII was available by phone before, during and after the check ride should an issue have come up that he needed to consult on.
