About Pilots n Paws

I don't do business with charities that don't publish a 3rd party audit. Way too much corruption.

As the founder and president of a non-profit, we don't do third party audits, and I have no intentions of doing so. Reason? The grants we apply for don't require it (and there aren't any ones that do require it that we're eligible for - at least not that we've found), and so it provides an extra expenditure of money that doesn't help the goal of saving puppies. We don't add any costs that we don't see as being able to provide a tangible benefit. It's not a good use of donated funds.

Seeing as you're the first potential private donor I've heard complain about non-profits not publishing third party audits, and I doubt you were going to donate to Cloud Nine anyway, I don't intend on starting for you. Sorry. :)

As to PnP, I don't know Debi well, but I would expect they are honest about their funding. I'm also very honest about what Cloud Nine money goes to - every dollar (after our unavoidable fees, which are primarily PayPal fees) goes to saving puppies with the 310, typically 25 at a time.

Smart. ;)

That's just facts, sir. You may feel free to be offended all you wish. You act as if I said the organization or Debi (whoever that is) was a liar. Get over yourself. I didn't.

Just the facts? OK here goes:

The published information is there in order to attract people to donate.

Publishing false information with the intent to attract people to donate is a textbook example of fraud.

you stated:
Without a published audit, it's just as likely fiction as info

That, sir, is an accusation of fraud.

I do, and you are correct in your assessment.

I take offense at someone inferring that an organization that I've volunteered hundreds of hours for is publishing false information based on no information.

Wrong.

Accusations say so. I said one thing is as likely as another.

A quarter is as likely to fall heads up or tails up.

Same sentence. Diagrams and parses the same.

I think both points have been made. Further discussion along these lines can only be hurtful.

I've been accused of everything from wasting taxpayer dollars (we don't get any government grants, by the way) to stealing someone's dog. No good deed goes unpunished, and you need a thick skin to work in the non-profit world. You'll get all kinds of nay-sayers who will say you're doing a bad thing, or accuse you of scamming someone.

It surprised me at first how many people would make all kinds of false accusations. It did get to me for a while. I've since learned to not care, and just keep on doing things the best I know how.

My favorite one is the people who wonder why I help dogs instead of people. Well, gee, given my above-referenced experiences...

Up until Ted flew in with 54 cats I had NEVER meet him. But... I felt his mission was worthy and talked the local FBO owner to give Ted a fuel discount, and I personally pitched in my cash to fuel his plane... I ain't rich but... I do sleep well at night knowing I really try to do my part.:yesnod::)

Ben, don't think I've forgotten that! It was, and still is, very much appreciated.

Most people are positive about it. But, the nay-sayers do often have the sharpest knives...
