A couple new signatures in my log book

Probably not what you were expecting. The museum I volunteer at held a Veterans Day Ceremony today to honor five local Tuskegee Airmen. The two surviving of the five were at the ceremony. I asked them if they would do me the honor of signing my log book.

First I've heard of a logbook doubling as an autograph book like that. Mine just has my signature and those of my CFIs and DPEs.

Making a general statement or trying to make a point? Do you have a better use for the back cover of MY log book? I can't think of one.

Way cool. BTW the logbook makes a great autograph book. Read a story about a pilot a few years ago that ran into John Glenn (one of the original Mercury 7 astronaut), who signed his logbook. Now, who wouldn't want THAT in their logbook?

I've just never collected autographs and have never understood getting another person's signature just for its own sake without any meaning or purpose. Now if a famous pilot were to have given me some dual instruction and signed the entry in my log then that would be a little cool but a signature without any context is worthless.

Never been much of an autograph person myself I have no time for celebrities. I do love history though. I also want these guys to know they are special and that I understand not only the context of what they did but the context of when they did it.
