Flightaware indicates it had just taken off from Scottsdale, filed IFR for Carson City NV at 16,000 feet. It got up to 9,100' and had just turned on course northwestbound, then started a descent and turned left in the direction of Glendale and Luke AFB, then turned left again, apparently intending to land toward the east at KDVT. The TV helicopter news reporter said KDVT had west traffic, so perhaps he was setting up for an emergency landing in the opposite direction.
Weather is typical Phoenix June -- very clear and very hot.
No METAR or ASOS available at KDVT today.
