I'm getting tired of loosing old friends. A Jetprop went down yesterday at Felts killing two longtime employees of Rocket Engineering. This was not a post conversion flight. Must have been after maintenance. It was one that I worked on in the past. Not a lot of details. Quick steep turn and into the river after rotation. For once I am speechless.

Was it a loss of authority? Rotate, steep turn sounds like something wasn't connected.

I wish I knew. Some talk of engine failure. The aircraft should be recoverable. Well liked people that will be missed

Sorry for your loss, condolences to the families.

Sorry to hear that.

In my flight test, my examiner reminded me of falling into spin when in climb doing a steep turn. Especially with laminar flow.
Any comments?

Very tragic accident. The aircraft went into the Spokane River which borders Felts Field. According to the Spokesman Review (local paper) recovery efforts are underway. The river is about 30 - 40 feet deep in that area and is running fast right now due to the snow melt. This hampered rescue activities should after the accident.

This accident coupled with the murder of a 16 year veteran police office by a 5 time felon in Couer d' Alene (about 20 miles from Felts Field) on Wednesday have shaken the region. Thoughts and prayers out to all.

Post maintenance flights are scary. Our local A&I likes to ask one of the gang of the 'Usual Suspects' to look at what he has done if it involves flight controls or flight critical parts before he buttons it up.
(The Usual Suspects are a small group of owners and various kinds of mechanics who look out for each other and drink a lot of coffee together)
None if us have found any discrepancies yet. Says it makes him feel better to have a second pair of eyes give it the once over.

And, why in ell is a 5 time felon walking the streets? That is 2 times past the cutoff.

Just a real strange coincedence is the officer shot in Idaho last weekend was named Moore.... All the way across the country and at about the exact same time, a NYC officer was shot.. His name was Moore too...
