I have an 0235 C1B engine I am working on for my Pietenpol which is under construction the engine is now fully disassembled and it looks like 3 cam lobes are showing pitting at or about .005 in depth. Can they be reground to servicable condition and rehardened? Also does anyone have an idea of the life expectancy of a reground cam. After rebuilding the engine I would hate to tear it down after 200 or so hours for the sake of a cam.

PM or check with Ted (Aztruck). He works for Lycoming and may be able to help you. Also saw your post for mounts and things needed, good luck with the project!

send it to AIRCRAFT SPECIALTIES in Tulsa OK, if it is regrindable, they will. and send it back.

My advice? buy a new cam, lifter bodies, and hydraulic units, that is the soft spot in Lycomings.

want a "0" time since overhaul to new spects? use new parts.!

.005" pitting is not likely to grind to legal specs. If ypu dpmn't want to pop for new send it to Romans in Tulsa. They often grind to a slightly smaller diameter than others. You also don't need it certified so if they can grind it slightly lower without the yellow tag. Do install reground if not new tappets. There are no hydraulic units in a 235.
