    Sky Harbor Airport 2/28/09

I did most of my PVT crosswind landing training there.... The trees on the lake side have grown a lot since then so it's pretty protected now. Also SUW is only a couple of miles to the west so watch for traffic in and out of there. Seaplane traffic should be pretty low in Feb. :-)

Smart people/Scientists, weigh in on this

We talked about this quite a bit when I worked at the Big Yellow Box (the insiders name for Eastman Kodak). Like most physical limitations it's also dependent on the person. Some people are actually able to detect 50hz at least in peripheral views. This can be quite disturbing in Europe where...

How Cool.... Red Bull Air Race in Detroit

Thanks for the heads up. It turns out my plane did not make it out of the shop in time for the trip. I had enough frequent flyer miles to get ticket for my wife and I in a big tube so we will still be there. The way the WX is looking tomorrow that might not be such a bad thing anyway...

How Cool.... Red Bull Air Race in Detroit

Thanks for the replys. Since my kids set this up we will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown. DET looks to be closest but given the comments I think I'll avoid it. Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some of you if we can figure out how to connect. Since I've never...

How Cool.... Red Bull Air Race in Detroit

*** I just found out my kids ( who I have to say are THE BEST) got me tickets for my birthday. I've never flown into the Detroit area so I'm looking any suggestions on the best airport and route from Minneapolis. Initially I'm planning a stop in the Chicago area and then on to Detroit and...

Lets see, back to "-5hours again"

:cheerswine:- OK, I'll concede that you could call that day but does that mean in Alaska they don't have 365 days in a year? Just one long day, one long night with a few days and nights between them.:dunno:

Lets see, back to "-5hours again"

Agreed! And while we're at it... Two more that's a pet peeve's of mine are the "Longest day of the year " and the "shortest day of the year". Seems to me it's the same 24 no matter hwere or what time of the year. Mike

    Urgent mail notices <g>

Ooh I like that one. I have a pile sitting in front of me. The only thing better would be if they had to pay full postage instead of getting bulk rates the rest of us probably subsidize.

    Best all around plane?

If I didn't mind paying for the fuel the 6-300 would be nice to have. I've flown a 6-240 into 2600' grass strips with 4 on board so there's no problem there and the fixed gear is a plus into the grass IMHO. On the other hand we all have different missions and available cash so what you fly now...
